This is a beautiful source book on constructing visual masterpieces in comic design. This not just about script writing or attractive pictures, but a delectable visual guide that cannot be put down let alone stop turning page experience.
Where to start and where to stop flipping though pages of little gems of information. Much of the book is concerned with the design and mechanics of the sequential art form of comics itself. But how a graphic or graphic novel is presented also has a big influence on how the reader perceives the work. Taking you through the layers of different style guides applied in layout production process, design principles to create a dynamics in compositions and design elements to create depth in simplification of complex compositions. Attached is the historical style guide which is full of resourceful information including how to create mood, movement sound within the illustrations, amongst other things. Of course it discusses digital information as well as other freehand illustrative styles. It was a hard ask for this book to be returned to VCV and I would have kept this one on my desk quite happily.
