The book covers topics such as typography, page layout, colour, digital design and packaging .

There is an introduction to the role of a designer, the design process and the audience, and the evolution of design.

There are some practical design briefs at the end of the chapters that may be useful in the classroom, and a summary of key terms and references / websites.

The chapter, ‘What makes good typographic design’ is informative and easy to follow.

The examples used to illustrate the design concepts are stylish and contemporary, as is the layout and style of the book. The section on ‘What makes good typographic Design’ is informative and easy to follow and will have many useful applications in the classroom when students are designing brochures, advertisements and other print material.
