Visual Communication Victoria, in partnership with Swinburne University are pleased to announce the release of a new resource: Four Designers Speak.

On Wednesday April 21 2010 some 150 students attended a seminar at Swinburne as preparation for their Unit 3 Outcome 3 SAC 3 Professional Practice in Visual Communication.

Four professional practitioners from four different design areas each presented a case study.

These designers were:

  • Richard Overall from Freeform who designed a South Melbourne Identity for SMDO,
  • Tyson Sheehand also from Freeform who designed labelling and packaging for Mountain Goat Brewery,
  • Jonathan Chan from Catalyst who designed a bike lock for Knog and
  • Tony Prysten from Igloo who designed a website for Mazda.

These designers talked through their design process using visual examples to support the development of concepts, evaluation strategies and design brief importance. The seminar concluded with a valuable student and designer Question and Answer session. Its value as a Unit 3 resource is clear but it can also be used in parts for Unit 1 and 2 studies and even to support an understanding of Professional Practice in Year 10.
