Inspired by the recent Flinders Street re-design Competition, VCV have prepared a resource to assist with the teaching of Visual Communication Design at Yer 9/10 level.

Changing Your Community - 3 Design Fields offers 18 weeks of Design that can be delivered as a Semester course or broken down into smaller units of work to cover a term or 4-5 weeks which can be slotted into an existing curriculum.

These units of work target Year 9/10 students, and challenge them to use design to change their communities.

The key skills that are covered are:

• Design Thinking
• Observational drawing, visualisation sketches and presentation drawing
• Technical drawing - 3rd angle orthogonal drawing
• Pictorial and perspective drawing
• Typography

The CD resource offers design experiences and design exposure through inspirational imagery, classroom discussions and hands on tasks and evaluation.
